Overview

This is a pro-bono volunteer position.

 

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

The Slack Subject Matter Expert would be responsible for assessing existing Slack channels along with channel members and determining best practices for utilizing Slack as the communication vehicle for JerseySTEM.  These best practices would need to be documented, communicated throughout the organization and successfully implemented. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as an internal SME for Slack
  • Create Slack user training documentation for end users 
  • Build onto an organizational structure that will allow for maximum automation and scalability for the future.  
  • Bring forth recommendations on how to effectively & efficiently utilize Slack as the internal communication tool.   How many channels are needed, who should be members of these channels, etc.
  • Experience in end-to-end Slack system implementations and solution design
  • Consult on ways to optimize and improve Slack channels and identify where functionality can or cannot meet user requests

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of Slack experience with techniques, methodologies and best practices
  • Strong communication/presentation skills to effectively interact with team members, scrum masters and leadership
  • Experience building, managing and enforcing standards
  • Effectively prioritizes work, troubleshoots issues, communicates, and completes tasks on time
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum organization
  • An ability to thrive in highly flexible environments
  • Slack Workspace Primary Owner experience preferred

Time Commitment: 5-7 hours weekly; 6 months minimum
