Overview

This is a pro-bono volunteer position.

 

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

The TECH Department is comprised of 5 activities/teams:

    • TECH.SFT Administration of Salesforce and related activities
    • TECH.JRA Administration of JIra  and related activities
    • TECH.GGL Administration of Google Workplace  and related activities
    • TECH.SLK: Administration of Slack  and related activities
    • TECH.DEV: DevOps, automation, scripting  and related activities

The Software Development Lead is in charge of various software development activities and the team members assigned specific development tasks mostly using scripting languages, connecting with APIs,...

Responsibilities

  • Ensure TECH.DEV team is making progress on task assigned to them
  • Provide occasional technical oversight, depending on expertise
  • With the support of OPEX, ensure adoption of Jira by TECH for transparency and visibility on work that needs to be done
  • In the case of Vacancy of a team lead, act as a substitute team lead
  • Participate in the interview of potential Candidates
  • Attend virtual team meetings weekly Mondays 8:30pm
  • 5-6 hours per week, 6-12 month commitment

Qualifications

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn Google Apps Scripting Language
  • Technical background in one of the JerseySTEM Areas 
  • Strong leadership/team building skills
  • Resourceful, can-do attitude
  • Experience leading a function (i.e. team, department manager, etc) and managing others
  • Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce)
