This is a pro-bono Unpaid volunteer position.

 

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

The Director of HUCA provides direction to the HR team. The incumbent manages the planning, organizing and directing of human resources activities in support of the mission of the organization. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee development of HR operations/processes to support recruiting professionals for volunteer opportunities, recruiting for internships, and recruiting student coaches from colleges/universities for Outreach Programs
  • Provide direction for the continuous improvement of Onboarding and Engagement processes
  • Provide direction for the planning and direction of training and development approaches to enhance the volunteer experience and engagement
  • Advise organization leadership on human resources issues and develop and implement effective HR policies and processes across the organization
  • Actively build the capabilities of the HR team through proactive planning, coaching and recruitment of volunteer team members
  • Provide Human Resources expertise and guidance to department managers on HR policies and practices
  • Serve as a liaison between the HR team and the rest of the organization
  • Flexible hours, 8-10 hours/week, 12 months minimum commitment

Qualifications

  • Strong (5-7 years), broad Human Resources experience with emphasis on recruiting and onboarding
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfort managing a virtual HR team
  • Resourceful and creative
