Overview

This is a pro-bono volunteer position.

 

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

In addition to Corporate and Individual donations, Grants are a potential large source of financial support for the JerseySTEM mission. JerseySTEM is looking for a Department Head who can help us establish and manage the infrastructure to effectively and efficiently access this stream of funding for JerseySTEM.

Responsibilities

  • Implement best practices in Grant Research, Writing and Management
  • Manage a team of Grant Researchers and Grant Writers
  • Investigate and evaluate JerseySTEM’s, and other organizations’, process for applying for grants.
  • Make recommendations regarding requirements to create and implement an improved process.
  • Make recommendations regarding creating a robust and self-sustaining team 
  • Work with the human resources group to identify and on-board volunteers with the requisite skills.
  • Monitor and guide the team’s efforts. 
  • Attend virtual team meetings once a week
  • Report to the board on team’s performance and provide recommendations on team structure and operational management, as well as on-going potential further improvements. 

Qualifications

  • Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender and opportunity gap.
  • Experience developing and supervising teams.
  • Experience working with volunteer organizations.
  • Strong leadership/team building skills.
  • Resourceful, can-do attitude.
  • Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce).
  • Flexible schedule to allow for non-regular, scheduled meetings during the workweek 1-2 times a month
