JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.

Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

Overview

This is a pro-bono unpaid position. 

 

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

The ADMN Department Head is responsible for 501c3 administrative requirements including legal compliance, insurance, and Board documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and review annual insurance quotes, and negotiate annual insurance renewal 
  • Obtain and provide guidance on insurance considerations to support growth of JerseySTEM
  • Coordinate with legal counsel to provide guidance on 501c3 legal compliance, and general legal questions
  • Provide direction to Board Secretary
  • Recommend ways to streamline/improve JS administrative and legal processes
  • Provide direction to Admin/Legal members

Qualifications

  • BS or BA, law degree or working towards a law degree preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with business insurance a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of contracts and business law
  • 5 hours per week, 6-12 month minimum commitment
