About JerseySTEM

All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.

JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.

Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

Overview

Want to inspire middle school girls to grow their awareness and interest in STEM fields?

Join an after-school STEM Session in one of the locations. One weekday afternoon, 3pm-5pm.

Responsibilities

  • For employees working in a STEM Company or in the STEM Field
  • Visit a New Jersey middle school, one week-day afternoon

Ideas for your talk/presentation:

  • 30min presentation about you: @Highschool, @College, @Work, @Home
  • Explain your career. A day in the life of a [your job title]
  • Help students with projects 

 

Qualifications

  • Work for a STEM company or in a STEM field
  • Females preferred, allies welcome
  • Willingness to travel to a middle school in New Jersey
